I managed to cry myself into joining StatoilFoto on a wildlife safari to Flatanger<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month. A very good friend of mine, Harald Wesenberg<\/a>, asked if I was interested in joining them on a photo trip to Lauvsnes<\/a> in Nord-Tr\u00f8ndelag<\/a>. They had booked a trip with Norway Nature, a one man company specializing in arranging trips photographing the White-tailed eagle<\/a>. The owner, Ole-Martin Dahle<\/a>, is a skilled photographer himself, but he really cares about “his” eagles and enjoys showing his guests the beauty of Norwegian wildlife. The white-tailed eagle is the largest in Norway, and a fairly common but still majestic sight. You do not normally get this close to them though. Ole-Martin has got the action down to the pat, and he can almost guarantee you fantastic photos of several gigantic eagles catching fish or circling the boat. His knowledge of the eagles habits, and their knowledge of his boat makes for an interesting trip among the small islands outside Lauvsnes.<\/p>\n

We had a bit more wind than what he liked Saturday morning so we started off setting up our equipment in a hideout and photographing squirrels and smaller birds until lunch. After lunch we went out to get our eagles. The day after we went straight for the eagles. We had a great time and I got several hundred good photos. In order to spread out the goodies I have split up the action into three blog posts. The first one will be about the eagles though, but come back soon to see some more wildlife photos, expect to find one blog post on squirrels and smaller birds, and another one on seagulls.<\/p>\n
